A Few of my Favorite Things - Scrapbooking Tools posted by Carla Alvarez

Scrapbooking Tools I Couldn’t Live Without

It’s nice to have a variety of tools and supplies to work with when you are creating a scrapbook layout, but there are a few things that I use on almost every single layout that I do.

So if you are starting to build your scrapbook supplies, here are a few tools to start with.

Paper Cutter from Stampin’ Up!

I use my Stampin’ Up! paper cutter to make cards, note tags, trim paper for page layouts, and then just for the miscellaneous things around the house that need a quick cut.

I do have other paper cutters, but this is my favorite.

Cost: $24.95.

Custom Cutting System from Creative Memories

Love it, Love it, LOVE IT! If you’re like me and can’t cut a straight line even with an exacto knife, this is a must have.

The Custom Cutting System consists of a cutting matte, three cutting blades, and your choice of one of the template sets. The blades fit within the grooves of the template and you simply slide the blade around the template for a cleanly cut shape.

Cost $38 for the cutting system, additional templates are $14.

Alphabet Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!

Again, I use this on almost every single page. Rather than having to worry about running out of letters or colors not matching as you do when using stickers, using an alphabet stamps gives you unlimited flexibility when creating your pages.

I currently have one alphabet stamp set, but I think I am going to be soon expanding my collection as the Winter 2005 Mini Catalog from Stampin’ Up! has two new smaller alphabet sets that would complement the larger set that I currently have. One has upper and lower case in one set and the other has upper and numbers. At $19.95 per set, they are a great deal.

Cost: Sets range from $16.95 to $39.95.

What are your “must have’s?”

  2. I can’t live without the Page Layout sheets from Creative Memories. They offer the best ideas on scrapbook pages! I use 98% Creative Memories paper, cutters, stickers, etc. and I’m now beginning to use Stampin’ Up in my scrapbooking. Try the heat embossing on your pages; it’s incredible!

  4. I am in absolute agreement about the Stampin’ Up! paper trimmer! Awesome tool – and it allows you to score, too! The Creative Memories Custom Cutting System can’t be beaten – just terrific… easy to use and makes layering a snap. I am a HUGE fan of the Stampin’ Up! punches, papers, inks, embossing tools, watercoloring pencils, brads, ribbons and adhesives. OH, I can’t forget the CM Decorative Edge Trimmer – SUPER COOL!
